winter wonderland

Christmas time in the UK  just isn’t the same as Christmas time in Germany. I don’t know why but it’s just not the same. So I was more then delighted when I found out last year that there is a massive Christmas market in Hyde Park each year.

Last year around the same time my dad was visiting so I took him there and this year it was my mom’s turn. She is a real Christmas enthusiast (you should see our house around Christmas – beautifully decorated all over!) so this was a must do for her. Unfortunately it was the day after the opening and it was suuuuper busy but we still had a very good time checking out the different stands and food varieties on offer. Finished the day off with a pint of German beer in the Cafe Bavaria,  a massive two-story building entirely made off wood. And that’s just one part of the gigantic Bavarian Village! I wonder where they go with all that stuff after the season…

If you ask me, it’s not as good as the Christmas Markets in Germany (and a 200ml cup of mulled wine for 4 pounds is a bad joke) but it is quite a spectacle and does make you feel a little more festival! And most of the stalls are actually run by Germans so it’s probably as close as you can get in the heart of London!

Winter Wonderland is open till 3rd of January so if you are in London, make sure you check it out yourself! Get out at Hyde Park Corner, you’ll see it from there!

You're right when you say that Christmas market are better in Germany, cause I live near Strasbourg (North East France) and they are the best to make magic and traditionnal Christmas market :)
