100 years back

359370316382335322416

Alright, these are the last pics from our holidays. Promise! ;) On our last day we went cross-country skiing which was so much fun although I did land on my ass a couple of times because the tricky thing is when it goes downhill you can’t break unless you exit the trails (pretty much impossible as Beginner)… But nevertheless the scenery was breathtaking with the tracks running alongside a little stream through the woods. We stopped at an old inn for lunch (second picture) where everything looked as if nobody changed a thing for the last century. And again; amazing food! :D

How awesome is the sign with the oldschool car and the motorbike driver’s position! :D And the guy on the tractor! His hat!!! Ahaha I whish I had it at home. Apparently this was not an outdated model but all of them look like this. Gotta love Austrians.

The last pic was taken on the journey back home when we were passing the castle Hohenwerfen – would have loved to pop in but it’s unfortunately closed during winter.

End of Winter Holiday posts because – Hey! It’s actually getting warmer! Yay!

Translation:

Juhu!

more boarding fun

141155Me in very fashionably head- and eyewear. Kinda reminds me of Ninja Turtles. 050156

So here you go, a few more pics from Austria. As you can see, the weather was incredible throughout the rest of our holidays and we enjoyed the sunlight on 2000m above the sea.

167163Trust me, the food was sooo good, instead of losing weight with all the sport we were doing but no no... too delish! Especially Kaiserschmarrn and  Germknödel! Yum!

austria: day one and two

013

I’m back! And Uni welcomed me with a hell lot of work and revision so I am kind of getting behind with blogging. I finished my studies for today so now I am sorting out 400+ pictures that I made last week.

Here’s the first bit, day one and two. It was nice on Sat when we arrived but started snowing mid-day sunday which made it impossible to ski until evening. Fortunately, the following 5 days were absolutely brilliant and we could enjoy the slopes every day.

Unfortunately I got a huge blister from the new Snowboard shoes right on the first day which kept bothering me non stop since then and still hasn’t healed entirely… but I managed to ignore the pain after a few hours everyday and thanks to Compeed Blister Plasters, it wasn’t too bad. But still annoying.

Next bit following soon!

a walk in the snow

On the 25th, my family and I went to a new asian restaurant for lunch, enjoying a variety of amazing asian dishes from sushi to mongolian specialities. After too much food we decided to take a walk in the beautiful winter scenery. How do you spend the holidays?

My beautiful sister <3

As much as I adore the snowy landscape, I feel with all the animals that have to stand this unusual cold (it was -10°C that day). I wonder what made this little fellow come out of his cave? I am guessing it was a mole? Don't they usually sleep during winter? Look at the claws on the side!

winter wonderland

070

Since I am stranded on this island I thought I might as well use the day to take a nice walk in the park and enjoy the beautiful scenery that this damn snow has created. You know, make the most of it. So enjoy.

chaos on the island.

The plan was to fly to Germany yesterday at 12.55 from London Stansted. Since I already missed a flight once, I had to make sure to leave early. So without having slept all night, I left at 9am, got to the airport way before time and consequently was the first in line for boarding. Since I was at the beginning I could hear everything that was going on between the terminal staff… when the rumors came that snow was heading our direction, I was the first to know. At 12.50 they cancelled all flights and even the planes that had already departed came back. So obviously everyone started storming to the ticket desk to get a new flight… I stood there queuing for 5 hours just to be 2 mins at the desk. I am rescheduled for tuesday, lets hope it will work this time. Worst thing was that no buses were running, so we had to queue another 2 hours to get a train ticket and another  hour to get on a train just to stand squeezed between a million suitcases in a heavily overloaded train. On top of that the bus from the station back home stopped halfway and refused to go any further which meant I had to drag my 25kg luggage for miles all the way back through the snowmud (uphill). End of the story is I spend about 70 Pounds for transport that day and I have a cold. What a brilliant day.

At least my boyfriend welcomed me at home with a hug and a hot coffee. I met so many people that day that were even unluckier because they had to book other heavily overpriced ways of transport to get home or stay overnight at the airport or a hotel. Good thing was that I met so many nice people to kill the time with. Luckily it happened in England; most people took it with humour, if it had been in Germany I would have been sourrounded by a bunch of miserable moaners. The English sure know hoe to queue! :D

In the end you gotta make the best out of any bad situation. My boyfriend once told me to never focus on the problem but on the solution. Moaning and crying won’t get you anywhere. I followed his advice ever since and it works for me.

I hope you guys had a better weekend and you’re not having to travel in these circumstances. Where ever you are, have a nice 4th of Advent.
